Encircling with a magnetic field controllable by a variable frequency and amplitude to propel red blood cells radially while rotating about a vascular axis so as to loosen and clear away vascular accumulations tending to block the vascular system.
A clamping instrument for use for occluding blood vessels and other fluid ducts in an animal or a human body has a slender tubular shaft provided at one end with a lateral clamping jaw and at its other end with a hand piece. A thin wire is slidably disposed in the shaft and has a lateral clamping jaw at one end disposed in confronting clamping relation with the fixed jaw on the shaft. The wire is slidable through the hand piece and extends rearwardly therefrom with such extension being mounted o...
A vascular tourniquet or snare for use in a surgical procedure where it is desired to limit or restrict flow through a body vessel or to secure a tube within such vessel. The tourniquet or snare consists of an elongate sheath through which a rigid retractor extends. A tape or cord wrapped about the vessel is withdrawn through the sheath by the retractor and secured thereto by a plug inserted in the proximal end of the sheath.
Apparatus for facilitating the performance of medical procedures involving the vascular system of a patient, especially in a critical care environment, such as withdrawal of blood for analysis and infusion of medication. In the taking of a blood sample, blood flows through an arterial catheter connected to an artery of the patient, past a sample station, and then through a venous catheter that brings the blood back to the patient, the various mechanisms being connected by transparent plastic tub...
A clamp for closing blood vessels and the like is a tapered flat envelope of impermeable plastics film with an inlet tube at its wider end for inflating the envelope and a transverse seal limiting the inflatable region. The other end is tapered and is non-inflatable. It can be tucked under a transverse strip to secure the clamp on a blood vessel. The envelope is widened under the transverse strip and also at the transverse seal to hold the narrow end in place under the strip.
A vascular prosthesis intended to act as a substitute blood vessel comprises a porous corrugated tube (1) of textile material presenting a pattern of a series of axially disposed markings (3,4 or 5) on the corrugations (2) so disposed that the appearance of the pattern changes when the prosthesis is extended. The change in the appearance of the pattern as the tube is extended provides an indication to the user when the prosthesis has been extended to the desirable extent.

A disposable device for stabilizing a vessel during venipuncture is provided. The device includes two half body portions, each half body portion having a vascular stabilizing rib thereon. A living hinge portion connects the two half body portions and permits pivotal motion whereby the stabilizing ribs may be brought closer together while maintaining a parallel relationship therebetween. A step locking mechanism also is connected between the two half body portions which permits pivotal motion abo...
A vascular prosthesis comprising a porous tubing of polytetrafluoroethylene containing an anti-coagulant substance and bonded to its outside surface a porous elastomer coating containing substance which counteracts the anti-coagulant substance is disclosed.
A vascular shunt is employed for use in surgical by-pass operations to divert blood flow during an operation from the aorta into a plurality of arteries serving different organs of the body. The vascular shunt is comprised of a hollow, flexible inlet tube with an inlet tip projecting therefrom and turned to form an inlet mouth. The tip is adapted for insertion into an incision surgically formed into the wall of a human aortic artery so that the mouth of the inlet tip is directed upstream into th...
