An altitude compensation assembly for controlling the air-fuel ratio through a carburetor bore including a pair of metering orifices in parallel between a fuel supply and the bore; a main metering rod is moved with respect to one of the orifices under the control of a power position between a normal fuel supply position and a fuel enrichment position, a second metering rod is controlled by an altitude responsive aneroid to produce a control fuel flow to the carburetor bore to change the fuel inp...
A carburetor for an internal combustion engine having means to regulate the air flow in response to ambient air temperature and pressure. The carburetor includes a member protrudable into the main venturi portion to reduce progressively the effective area thereof as temperatures or altitudes decrease, and conversely. The carburetor includes a bypass passage having valve means that permits the addition of supplementary air to the idle system at high temperatures or altitudes and reduces progressi...
An aircraft altitude alerting instrument. The instrument includes a pressure reference scale and an altitude alerting scale. Means is provided for placing a selected altitude alerting setting on the altitude scale adjacent to a pressure reference reading on the pressure reference scale. The pressure reference reading on the pressure reference scale provides an index for the selected altitude alerting setting. Means responsive to measured static pressure outside the aircraft and coupled to the al...
An altitude compensating pressure regulator for use with an aircraft breathing device and including a housing formed with a flow passage having inlet and outlet ports and including a control valve responsive to pressure in a control chamber to control flow through such passage. A pilot valve chamber is in communication with such control chamber by means of a passage having flow therethrough controlled by a pilot valve. One wall of the pilot chamber is in the form of a pressure responsive diaphra...
The invention provides a vertical velocity signal and an integration signal, respectively, of two detected ambient conditions. The signals are summed, in a selectable ratio, and compared with a predetermined altitude set point. When there is a difference between the summed outputs and the altitude set point, an altitude control signal is provided to control a vertical propulsion system of an object whose altitude is to be maintained above a terrain.
An apparatus including a pressure sensing device in combination with a frequency converter, a displacement servo and a transducer in which the pressure sensing device incorporates a vibrating sensitive diaphragm in combination with an electrical drive circuit and a variable frequency oscillator for producing output voltages having frequencies which vary in a substantially linear manner with respect to pressure altitude. The frequency converter is coupled to the pressure sensing device and has a ...
An altitude compensation device for a carburetor including a chamber in communication with the atmosphere, an air bleed port conducting atmosphere from the chamber, a primary conduit providing fluid communication between the chamber and the fuel system of the carburetor, a first valve responsive to changes in atmospheric pressure for opening and closing the air bleed port, a first flow restrictor in the primary conduit downstream of the air bleed port, an auxiliary conduit providing fluid commun...
A carburetor has an air passage in a parallel arrangement with the induction passage for supplying supplemental air around the venturi to the air/fuel mixture in response to changes in ambient operating conditions, the air bypass passage being controlled by a first valve sensitive to changes in ambient conditions, the passage including an additional valve connected to the choke valve for restricting additional airflow in proportion to closing of the carburetor choke valve to provide a desired ri...
A hand-held instrument adapted selectively to provide a sportsman, such as a mountain climber, with readily-readable indications of the existing altitude or direction. The instrument includes a magnetometer which yields an analog signal as a function of direction and a pressure sensor which yields an analog signal as a function of atmospheric pressure. These analog signals are converted into corresponding digital signals and applied to a microprocessor which acts to control an LCD display having...
A high altitude G-valve produces a pressure signal in response to altitude and G-load without a connection to an external altitude sensing device. Bleed path pressure regulation by an aneroid valve and a G-sensing valve control a pilot valve which in turn controls a main valve. The main valve provides regulated air to the G-valve outlet in response to the pilot valve. A manually actuated button simulates a high-G load on the G-sensing valve to test the operation of the device.
