Detergent compositions are disclosed which incorporate as a builder a water-soluble salt of a copolymer consisting of ethyl benzene and succinic acid groups in a 1:1 ratio and having a molecular weight of at least 3,000 and, optionally, a poly-phosphate.
Novel sulfoxides having the general formula wherein X is O when R is a monovalent radical selected from the group consisting of glyceryl, acetonyl, 2-chloroethyl, 2-iodoethyl, 2-mercaptomethyl ethyl, 2-methoxyethyl, 2-ethoxy-ethyl, and 2-allyloxyethyl, and X is an integer from 1 to 2 when R is methyl. These sulfoxides are useful as suds-stabilizing additives. As intermediates for the preparation of sulfoxides that are useful as suds-stabilizing additives, there are also disclosed the compound do...
Cleansing compositions adapted to emit visible light during use, and which are thereby capable of conveying useful information to the user, are disclosed.
Disclosed are improved lubricants particularly useful for forming metallic articles into desired sizes and shapes based upon operations enhanceable by lubricants. Typical specific working operations are cutting, sawing, grinding, shaping, planing, stamping, drawing, sanding, filing, milling, shearing, machining, and drilling. Preferred lubricant compositions are alkanol mixtures of predominantly normal alcohol and branched primary alcohol structures having predominantly from about 20 to about 34...
Novel resin compositions comprising mixture of organic solvent soluble phenolic resin containing benzylic ether linkage and/or methylol end group with polyisocyanate and catalytic concentrations of a base. The resin compositions are capable of curing at room temperature and are useful as coating and binder compositions.
Room temperature vulcanizing silicone elastomers are prepared by the addition of a novel, fluid at room temperature, cross linking agent such as acetoxyethyltriacetoxysilane to a silanol chain-stopped polydiorganosiloxane fluid. These compositions are stable, free flowing fluids in the absence of moisture but cure to the rubbery, solid elastic state upon exposure to moisture. The compositions are particularly useful in bonding windshields to a supporting structure in automobiles.
Phthalocyanines, halogenomethylphthalocyanines and aliphatic primary or secondary amines are milled together in presence of solid grinding acids which are soluble in, and subsequently removed by, aqueous media. Reaction of the amines and halogenomethylphthalocyanines takes place and pigment compositions are obtained which are readily dispersible in organic solvents and which are of value in inks and paints.
Abrasive compositions and articles such as grinding wheels and hones formed therefrom which abrasive compositions contain from 6 to 35 volume percent of diamonds from 5 to 65 volume per cent of a dendritic form of a metal such as copper, or silver or alloys thereof, from 10 to 75 volume percent of a coalesced aromatic polyimide and up to 80 volume percent (but retaining the 10 volume percent minimum of polyimide) of the polyimide phase of a filler or a metal coating on the diamonds.
Electrical machinery whose insulation is contaminated by moisture, salts, carbonaceous matter, and the like is cleaned by spraying with a solution of a water-insoluble, cationic surfactant with a hydroxy-aromatic acid or ester of such acid in a hydrocarbon solvent. The full resistance of the insulation is restored, and the residual protective film formed after volatilization of the solvent may serve as a primer for subsequently applied varnish.
In accordance with this invention there is obtained a polyimide-polytetrafluoroethylene resin composition which can be fabricated into bearings having unusually low frictional resistance.
