A computer interface for interconnecting a plurality of computer modules in a multiplex manner to emulate a computer configuration includes transmitters and receivers associated with each master and slave module, together with logic means whereby the master module is permitted to initiate computer operations with acknowledgement from the slave to insure proper data speeds. Conflicts are resolved between master modules.
This disclosure describes a novel computer system in which a large capacity, serial storage medium, on which standardized programs and data banks can be economically recorded, as the primary memory component. The operating software program is not transferred into core memory, as is typical of present day computers, but remains resident in the memory on which it has been prerecorded. The resulting system is lower in cost, and especially suitable for using standardized programs which can be distri...
A computer apparatus includes means for comparing the address stored in an address register with a preset address. When the stored address matches the preset address the comparison means issues an alarm signal which may be used to effect an immediate halt in the execution of a routine, trigger suitable annunciators or, selectively, to enable the injection into the routine of an overriding preset instruction.
A memory system is shown in which communication to and from memory cells is effected by optical beams. Memory cells are shown employing elements with negative resistance and operating in either of two stable modes. Other memory cells are shown employing subharmonic oscillators operating in either of two phase relationships. The memory cells and systems permit extremely fast operation.

A multi-speed ECG magnetic tape scanning device for processing and observing in a relatively short interval of time large quantities of ECG signals from two pairs of ECG leads. The ECG information is recorded on a miniature recorder which the patient carries to record the information for a long period of time, such as 24 hours. The recorder includes a built-in clock with a visible display. The recorder also includes an event marker, which is activated by the patient when the patient experiences ...
This disclosure pertains to a navigational computer having three arms slideably and pivotably secured to one another. A pair of compass roses are affixed at the intersection of one arm to each of the adjacent arms. Angularly disposed indicia, on the compass roses, and distance and speed indicating indicia disposed on each of the arms, provide computed data resulting from selective angular displacement of the arms and the utilization of selective portions of the lengths thereof.
Computer apparatus in a word organized computer system for implementing a single computer instruction for moving a binary number stored in one of a plurality of addressable registers to a designated memory location in a word addressable memory. The binary number is divisible into a maximum of four characters with characters of a given number having either 8 or 9 bits, and a word has 36 bits divisible into four bytes. If the characters have 8 bits, the characters are reformatted so that there is ...
A reproducing circuit is provided for reproducing digital information recorded in a cassette tape by frequency modulation in which different first and second digital logic levels are respectively represented by first and second repeated signals having respective first and second repeated frequencies, the first repeated frequency being higher than the second. A pulse forming circuit produces first and second pulse signals having the first and second repeated frequencies in response to the signals...
A graphic vector plotting instrument, particularly suited for marine navigational computations. A cursor disk is surrounded by a concentric compass disk, and both are rotatable about their common center. The cursor disk has a pair of perpendicular cursor lines which intersect at the common center and a plurality of other parallel cursor lines. The compass disk has a 360.degree. compass rose scale thereon. A transparent plotting slide is slidable over the cursor disk and the compass disk and cont...
