The acid is preferably made up as a pharmaceutical composition such as a cream, and applied at a dosage of 50 .mu.g - 50 mg of the acid per day for at least 5 days, but usually several weeks.

There is also described an aqueous suspension comprising sodium cromoglycate partitioned between a free aqueous phase and a liposome phase. There is further described a method for making the compositions, and their use in the treatment of allergic conditions, e.g., asthma.
