A bearing connection in a building structure for distributing downward gravity bearing loads through fasteners driven through sheet metal connectors and into a load carrying wood structural member such as a floor joist, a roof rafter or a wood truss member, through a pair of sheet metal connectors and into a wood plate member via fasteners driven through the connectors and into the plate member. Seismic, hurricane or other upward forces are also resisted by the same connectors and fasteners. Rel...
The invention relates to a pipe connection in which an intermediate ring which is provided on its end faces with sealing lips is inserted between the widened pipe ends and clamping means are provided which brace the widened pipe ends and the intermediate ring together in a force-locking manner, the sealing lips of the intermediate ring being plastically deformed.
An improved scaffold connection is provided, comprising a first ring member having an upper side and a lower side, fixedly attachable to a vertical scaffold member; a connector body having a first end, a second end, a top, a bottom and sides, fixedly attachable at its second end to one end of a horizontal scaffold member having an upper surface, the connector body including a section for attachment of the connector body to the upper side of the first ring member, extending from the first end of ...
A tubular pin member is received within a tubular box member. The pin member includes a reduced diameter portion forming a shoulder having an annular groove in the shoulder. A metal seal ring of aluminum bronze is shrink fitted onto the outer diameter wall of the annular groove. The tubular box member and the tubular pin member have cooperable connection means connecting the tubular members. The metal seal ring sealingly engages the box thereby establishing a metal-to-metal seal between the tubu...
A plug connection for the detachable fitting of a prosthesis structure such as a tooth on a tooth peg or post characterized by a plug part provided on the post having a cylindrical base with a tip having a portion of a larger diameter than the base and having a circumferential conical surface extending to a tip, a socket part having a cavity for receiving the plug part and containing a clamping ring for engaging the shoulder formed at the portion and base and supporting a bearing ring in the cav...
An improved scaffold connection is provided, comprising a first ring member having an upper side and a lower side, fixedly attachable to a vertical scaffold member; a connector body having a first end, a second end, a top, a bottom and sides, fixedly attachable at its second end to one end of a horizontal scaffold member having an upper surface, the connector body including a portion for attachment of the connector body to the upper side of the first ring member, the portion extending from the f...
A wood connection is concerned with at least two wooden members glued together, having a distance piece fitted therebetween. The distance piece covers only a relatively small part of the area of abutment between the two (or more) wooden members, the remainder of the area of abutment being filled with permanently elastic glue. The mutual positioning of the wooden members is achieved with dowels and receiving holes therefor.
A connection in a wood frame building wherein a one piece sheet metal hanger connector is used to join together a wood supporting member, and one or two wood supported members. The connector is connected to the supporting member by a top flange and the supported members are joined to the connector as well as to the supporting member by fasteners driven through openings in flanges of the connector, through the supporting member, through the back wall of the connector and into the supporting membe...
A rubber-metal bearing element 1 comprises two parallel washers 2, 3 interconnected by a rubber block 4, from which extend threaded bolts, 5, 6 for screwing the bearing elements to the parts 9, 10 to be joined. To prevent the threaded bolt from being entrained by the nut 12 with the latter is tightened, the washer 3 is concave inwards so that only its circumference is in contact with the part 10. The friction torque between the washer 3 and the part 10 is greater than between the nut 12 and the ...
Connection between a high voltage electric cable and the bushing of a transformer is achieved by firstly terminating the cable using heat shrinkable insulation tubing and stress control material, and secondly push-fitting the terminated cable into an insulating elbow. Mechanical retention of the cable in the elbow also provides electrical connection therebetween, for subsequent connection on to the bushing.
