A strip of composite metal laminate material embodying a thin inner layer of stainless steel sandwiched between and metallurgically bonded to two relatively thicker outer layers of low carbon steel is subjected to a brief, high temperature heat treatment followed by a relatively much longer heat treatment at much lower temperature for substantially eliminating the yield point in the laminate and for maximizing formability of the laminate while permitting some reduction in the corrosion resistanc...
Wheel rim and tire assembly including at least one member for retaining the tire bead in position on the rim bead seat and against the rim flange. The bead retaining member is located in an aperture in the rim and comprises a flange and an expanded portion which retain the member in the aperture, the expanded portion engaging the tire bead to exert a retaining force thereon.
Disclosed is a deformable wire stripper comprising either a single or set of blades fabricated from a deformable material such as a plastic. The material is selected so it will undergo plastic or elastic deformation upon contact with a metal conductor, but yet will penetrate and cause deformation of the wire insulation to be stripped.
A fastening pin for use in connecting printed circuit boards or the like constructed of concentrically arranged split tubes or layers of material having different thermal properties. One tube is made from a heat recoverable metal alloy, that is, a metal alloy that can be caused to exhibit a decided reduction in strength and be deformed when it passes through a transition point in a first direction and a reverse change in dimension and increase in strength when it passes through the transition po...
There is disclosed a process whereby non-deformable thermoplastic materials can be made to deform by the introduction of polar groups into these materials.
A hollow-walled deformable sleeve for heat insulation and application of prestress to a cylindrical component within an enclosure is constituted by two coaxial walls joined to each other by two half-tori each having the same axis as the walls. Flutes formed in uniformly spaced relation around the periphery of each wall have terminal openings alternately on one half-torus and on the other. Each flute has an axis which is parallel to that of the sleeve and a length which exceeds one-half the heigh...
A composition capable of being plastically deformed at high temperatures contains at least 98% MgO, less than 0.1% B.sub.2 O.sub.3, and, as principal subsidiary components, CaO, SiO.sub.2, and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. Based on the total weight of the subsidiary components, there is about 65% CaO, from 25 to 33% SiO.sub.2, and from 10 to 2% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. The composition is preferably substantially free of iron, but in any case the weight of Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 is no more than one-tenth the weight of Al...
An electrothermally deformable levelling pad utilizable in padding, levelling or aligning girders, rails or any other constructional or structural elements. The levelling pad comprises at least one thermoplastic plate member and an electric heater for heating the thermoplastic plate member to soften or melt to cause the overall thickness of the pad to reduce to a value sufficient to bring an article or machine to a predetermined level. The plate member is made of a thermoplastic random-copolymer...
There is described a deformable fastening member of a separable type fastener including a flexible backing strip and a multiplicity of hooking elements projecting from one surface thereof. The backing strip includes a plurality of spaced apart relief slots extending into the strip from the edge portions thereof. The slots allow the strip to be easily bent and attached to substantially any curved surface.
A press for a deformable bag, particularly a blood bag, has two flaps articulating on a common hinge and urged together by pressure means to clamp a bag placed between them. Associated with the pressure means are control means adapted to make a determined pressure threshold perceptible to an operator.
