Discharge electrodes for use in electrostatic precipitators. In preferred form a discharge electrode is formed of a pair of body elements arranged in a partially overlapping relationship. The overlapping structure is such that a longitudinally extending support portion is formed in the lateral intermediate portion of the electrode. To each side of the support portion a web portion is formed which includes one of the body elements extending the full lateral extent of the web portion and the other...
A discharge valve, especially for liquids, has a tubular body with an inlet and a circumferential outlet. A sleeve is slidable on the body around the outlet and has a large number of holes affording varying flow through the outlet, depending upon the sleeve location. In an extreme or shut-off position of the sleeve, a bearing ring on the body is abutted by a packing ring on the sleeve carrying an O-ring to seal against the bearing ring.
A discharge device for igniting a fuel-air mixture whereby fuel droplets in the mixture are electrically charged and, under the influence of an electric field, caused to congregate at a region thereby concentrating the mixture at said region, means being provided to create an arc at said region. A device of more general use is also disclosed.
An ultra-high pressure mercury lamp in which both devitrification and also breakage of the discharge vessel can be eliminated. In the ultra-high pressure mercury lamp, there is a pair of opposed electrodes in a fused silica glass discharge vessel filled at least 0.15 mg/mm.sup.3 mercury, and an alkali metal concentration in the area from the inside surface of this discharge vessel to a depth of 4 microns that is at most 10 wt. ppm.
A discharge lamp comprises an arc tube 6 made of a translucent ceramic dosed with a metallic halide. The discharge is conducted between electrodes 20 disposed in the arc tube 6. The arc tube 6 comprises a main tube body 11 having a large diameter portion 11A and a small diameter portion 11C, and a narrow tube 12 airtightly fixed to the small diameter portion 11C while penetrating the small diameter portion 11C. In the discharge lamp, supposing that L (mm) is the length of a protrusion from the m...
A compressor assembly includes a shell which defines a discharge chamber. A discharge valve assembly is attached to the shell in communication with the discharge chamber. The discharge valve assembly includes a stamped or coined valve seat, a drawn tubular element and a stamped valve member. The stamping, drawing and coining operations used to manufacture the discharge valve assembly significantly reduce the manufacturing costs for the discharge valve assembly.
A discharge tube in which a cathode with a cathode tip portion being fixed to a lead rod and an anode opposed to the cathode tip portion are encapsulated in a discharge gas atmosphere to effect arc discharge, wherein the cathode tip portion comprises: a metal substrate of an impregnated type in which a porous, refractory metal is impregnated with an electron-emissive material or a sintered type in which a refractory metal containing an electron-emissive material is sintered; and a coating of a r...
The invention relates to a discharge electrode (30) produced from metal sheet and intended for use in an electrostatic dust precipitator which in addition to incorporating the discharge electrode also incorporates one or more collector electrodes. A voltage source is provided for supplying energy to the discharge and collector electrodes, so as to create therebetween a high d.c. voltage and an electrostatic field which separates dust from a dust-laden medium flowing through the precipitator, thi...
A dispensing valve provided in a chemical dispenser for dispensing predetermined amounts of chemical into a lavatory cistern is disclosed. The dispensing valve seals an opening in and dispenses liquid from the dispenser, the valve having a chamber movable through the opening between a filling position in which the chamber is fillable with chemical from the dispenser and a discharge position in which chemical held in the chamber may be discharged, the chamber being provided with surfaces sealing ...
A discharge valve which includes a housing provided with a plurality of discharge holes, a plurality of seat portions formed on an inner circumferential face of the housing an a portion surrounding the discharge holes, a valve member disposed within the housing and provided with a plurality of valve portions, a valve support member disposed within the housing for supporting the valve member and a projecting member provided between the discharge holes on the inner circumferential face of the hous...
