A device for feeding envelopes from a hopper to an envelope processing station. Driving and driven rollers feed the envelopes one at a time from the hopper. The rollers define a nip through which the envelopes are fed. A unique "U" shaped spring forces the driven roller to contact the driving roller causing the driven roller to oscillate when no envelopes are fed. The oscillation helps envelope feeding by pulling and separating the lead envelope from the stack.
A document scanner is described for scanning a page of a book comprising a movable housing having at least one flat face containing a window through which light from a document to be copied can pass. A scanner within the housing adapted to scan an image of the document to generate an electrical video signal corresponding to the information carried by the document, a device for supporting a book face upwards so that the book can be moved into contact with the window, and a pivoting joint between ...
A document copier for producing photocopies from a book or equivalent bound volume, wherein a scanner housing (16) has a wedge-shaped surface with a window (18) in one face, and is mounted above a V-shaped book support (20) with provision for vertical relative movement therebetween so that a page of an open book on the book support can be located against the window. The scanner within the housing is movable to relay strip images via an optical system including reflector devices and a lens onto a...
A document scanner for scanning a page of a book which includes: 1. a movable housing having at least one flat face containing a window through which light from a document to be copied can pass. 2. a scanner within the housing adapted to scan an image of the document to generate an electrical video signal corresponding to the information carried by the document, 3. means for supporting a book face upwards so that the book can be moved into contact with the window, 4. a pivoting joint between the...
The document of value is provided with a safety design extending on one portion or the whole of its surface. The entire surface of the safety design consists of juxtaposed groups of segments of raised parallel lines of two different heights forming high reliefs and low reliefs portions. The segments of two adjacent groups are parallel to two predetermined directions, preferably substantially perpendicular. The assembly of segments parallel to one of the directions and consisting of high reliefs ...
An improvement in a document feeding device having a hopper oriented at an acute angle with respect to a horizontal plane and able to support a pack of documents to be fed seriatim therefrom. The improvement comprises at least one pad having a high coefficient of friction material situated on the upper surface of the hopper whereby the effect of the weight of the documents situated in the hopper above the pad on the pressure of the pack situated below the pad is decreased.
A coded document is provided for use in a document reading system having a plurality of markable areas defined thereon and a first and second coded pattern disposed in predetermined relation to the markable areas. Each of the coded patterns has an identical predefined signature when viewed from any direction. A coded document reader includes a video camera that captures the image carried on the coded document. Pixel data is stored in a memory corresponding to the document area scanned by the vid...
A document table device for an electrophotographic copying machine or image scanner includes a transparent reciprocating table for carrying a document, a transparent pivotal document cover for pressing the document toward the table, and a pivotal light shield for shielding scanning light, the light shield covering only a portion of the document cover.
The invention relates to an identification document, such as a passport or the like, which consists of a plurality of sheets bound into a book at a seam. At least one of the sheets forms a data sheet provided with information and consisting at least of two layers, at least one of the layers being transparent. The format of the layers is selected so that they protrude beyond the area of the seam thereby ensuring a connection of the data sheet with the other sheets of the identification document i...
A document of value such as a banknote comprises a substrate having a security feature in or on one region of the substrate. The security feature has at least one machine authenticatable high security entity (HSE) and at least one further machine authenticatable entity comprising a low security entity (LSE) or a high security entity, the at least two entites providing different detectable characteristics. The or each HSE is an homogeneous mixture of at least two components exhibiting different d...
