This disclosure relates to a tool for use in the installation of rock wool or fiberglass insulation in residential and commercial buildings. The tool includes first and second tubular body members affixed to each other in an adjustable and telescoping relationship, a paddle member affixed to the first tubular body member, a blade member affixed to the second tubular body member, and a spring actuated tubular safety sheath covering the blade member during use of the rock wool or fiberglass instal...
A fiberglass molding method characterized by the use of a male mask to which glass fiber material is affixed and then sealed against a female mold by a vacuum actuated gasket system. Resin is placed into the bottom of the female mold and is pulled by vacuum through the glass fiber material by means of vacuum ports which extend through the bottom of a spillway and open at an elevation above the bottom of the spillway. The method also allows the resulting fiberglass part to be subsequently surface...
A cutting attachment for cutting lengths of continuously formed fiberglass rods and other profiles. The cutting attachment has a stop member disposed in the path of each rod which is engaged by the end of the rod to operate a micro-switch. The micro-switch controls the operation of a clamping member which grips the rod and prevents further longitudinal movement. When the last micro-switch has been closed, a saw is moved transversely to cut all of the rods. The saw may simultaneously cut a notch ...
A form including a pair of panels releasably connected to each other to define a cavity for receiving flowable and hardenable material with each panel constructed of glass fiber reinforced plastic material having any suitable finish surface on the exterior thereof with the panels including a reinforcing grid on the inner surface thereof for rigidifying the same. The panels are interconnected by tie rods detachably connected with the reinforcing members with the periphery of each panel including ...
Provided herewith is a fiberglass binder comprising an aqueous solution of a polycarboxy polymer, a polyol and at least 30 weight percent of a filler material, preferably clay. The clay filler material is generally present in the aqueous solution as a suspension of particles having an average size of 3 .mu.m or less. The clay filler extended fiberglass binder of the present invention is more cost effective without significantly altering the appearance or function of the binder.
A potted shell style pavement marker reinforced with fiberglass in the form of a mat of fiberglass strands located near the bottom of the marker or in the form of chopped fiberglass strands distributed throughout the fill material. The mat provides support against torsional or bending stresses near the bottom of the marker. The chopped strands in the fill material provide three-dimensional support throughout the height and depth of the fill in the interior of the housing. Both means of support a...
A fiberglass railcar roof that includes a fiberglass surface with a central portion and a peripheral portion adapted to be joined to the upper edge region of a railcar. In some embodiments, the roof includes plural elongate fiberglass ribs extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the fiberglass surface. In some embodiments, the roof is adapted for use on refrigerated, high cube and cryogenic railcars. Methods for forming the invented roofs and roof panels are also disclosed.
The present invention provides a narrow orthopedic casting tape which can be handled in longer lengths suitable for economical production of coated fabric products. The narrow casting tape of the present invention is knitted as a wide fiberglass fabric with at least one removable connecting yarn in the length (i.e., warp) direction of the fabric which acts to connect two narrower strips of fiberglass fabric. The removable connecting yarn is subsequently removed from the fabric by a heat treatmen...
A system used to recycle remnant fiberglass that has been removed from bobbins by water jets. The fiberglass recycling system includes a conveyor system for transporting the fiberglass to a centrifuge which dewaters wetted fiberglass. A detector having photoelectric devices is positioned at a discharge end of the conveyor system to detect dimensions of clusters of fiberglass conveyed past the discharge section of the conveyor. The detector is connected to a control unit which calculates the appr...
A pallet made of composite material including thermo-setting plastic reinforced with fiberglass forming a platform with integral ribs molded to and extending downwardly from the platform and steel rods molded into the integral ribs at a distance from the section of neutral axis of the cross section of the pallet to make optimum use of the high tensile strength and modulus elasticity of steel, thus providing the required section modulus. The reinforced plastic face serves as the compression side ...
