A finger-manipulated article (e.g., a pen) includes a foam grip. The foam preferably is made from a foamable polyurethane prepolymer and a filler, or a latex, or both. The preferred foam has a recovery rate of less than 5 cm per minute. The foam may include a surface coating on its outer surface.
A polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foam is derived from a mixture comprising a crude isocyanate component and a polyol component which contains all or some of the following products in a homogeneous mixture: polyols, catalysts, surfactants, water, flame-retardants, expanding agents, fillers, dyes and pigments, in which the expanding agents comprise a pentane component associated with a dialkanolamide derived from fatty or oily substances of vegetable origin.
A method for the production of a metal foam is described. To this end a suitable foam material (1)is provided, if necessary, with an electrically conducting covering layer (1') and then thickened by plating with metal in an electrolytic bath. According to the invention the electrolytic bath used contains a brightener; in particular a chemical compound having the properties of a second class brightener. Metal foam obtained by means of the method is also described.
Foam panel with a skin provided on at least one surface and formed by melting of the foam material, characterized in that the skin is covered by a silicone layer.
The specification discloses a method of controlling foaming of liquid hydrocarbon fuels (e.g. diesel fuel and jet fuel) by inclusion therein of certain siloxane polyoxyalkylene copolymer as antifoam agents. The copolymers have an average molecular formula such that oxyalkylene groups of the copolymer provide from about 25% to about 65% by weight of the copolymer. Preferred copolymers are according to the general formula in which each Me represents a methyl group, each R' represents a group accor...
Foam capsules with telescopically engaged body and cap portions, also known as hard shell capsules, having a special wall structure, obtained by a microdispersion of a gas in a gelatin solution. The capsule body and cap portions are formed by dipmolding the film-forming mixture obtained by a microdispersion of the gas in a gelatin solution; optionally with the inclusion of a plasticizer and/or coloring agent, and/or flavoring agent, and/or foam stabilizer, and/or gelatin extender. By a suitable ...
MDI-based prepolymers are blown with a substantially nonaqueous blowing agent, such as pressurized air, and polymerized with stoichiometric amounts of polyoxyethylene polyol having at least two hydroxyl equivalents per mole, yielding a hydrophilic foam. The present foams may be extruded, knife-coated or otherwise cast into sheets, or may be fabricated by other known foam preparation techniques. Because the foam is polymerized with polyoxyethylene polyol instead of water, the foam exhibits both s...
A disposable bandage, and a process for manufacturing it, which is prepared from a single sheet or strip of liquid permeable, flexible thermoplastic hydrophilic foam. The process includes coating the entire surface of one side of a foam sheet or strip with a layer of porous pressure sensitive adhesive, covering the same side of the laminate with a suitable release liner and heat compressing the laminate except in the area of the laminate intended for wound contact. The foam bandage so produced i...
A disposable bandage, and a process for manufacturing it, which is prepared from a single sheet or strip of liquid permeable, flexible thermoplastic hydrophilic foam. The process includes coating the entire surface of one side of a foam sheet or strip with a layer of porous pressure sensitive adhesive, positioning wound release material in the area of the sheet or strip intended for wound contact, covering the same side of the laminate with a suitable release liner and heat compressing the lamin...
Elongate foam strips are formed by cold welding a flat foam web using blunt rotary cutters. A manually separable array of foam strips is formed by welding a flat foam web along a series of parallel lines, using cold welding or other joining methods, and packaging the array without separating the individual strips from one another.
