A foam absorber having electromagnetic energy attenuation characteristics comprising an open cell reticulated polyurethane foam impregnated with a conductive ink applied to a surface of the foam substrate. The conductive ink is applied as by spraying to a surface of the foam, coating such surface and gradiently loading the foam with the ink by penetration of the ink in gradually decreasing amount into the foam to a final depth therein. The conductive ink is comprised of an epoxy resin carrier an...
A rubber or plastic foam bat for recreational and/or therapeutic use. The bat includes a solid, generally cylindrical handle and a long, flexible tubular impact barrel longitudinally connected to the handle. The impact portion has a blind coaxial bore which closes momentarily when the bat strikes an object and subsequently reopens, thereby generating a loud noise. The bat preferably is formed from a thermoplastic or thermosetting material such as polyethylene.
An improved foamable protein hydrolysate based concentrate is provided containing multivalent cations and a water soluble polymer, which remains stable in storage for at least six months and which, when diluted with 10 to 50 parts of water and mixed with air to generate a foam, produces a foam which lasts essentially unchanged for at least three days.
A foam scrubber for removing contaminants from gas comprising first means for entrapping small, discrete volumes of said gas within liquid film enclosures comprising a mass of foam bubbles. Means for maintaining said foam bubbles a selected maximum size and for a selected interval of soaking time permitting the contaminants within the bubbles to diffuse and become entrapped within the surrounding liquid film of the bubbles. Means for collapsing the foam bubbles after the soaking period and separ...
Dimensionally stable polystyrene foams are prepared by using a mixture of blowing agents which has a diffusion rate through the polystyrene approximating that of air.
A resole phenolic rigid foam composition which is non-friable, non-corrosive and exhibits no "punking". The foam is obtained from a mixture of a resole phenolic resin, an organotin catalyst, an organic polyisocyanate and a blowing agent.
A method and apparatus for simultaneously generating and pumping foam. As air is being pumped, foam solution is transmitted through a number of bores formed in at least one of the pump's pumping members, whereupon foam is generated when the solution emerges from the bores and is discharged at the pump's outlet.
There is described herein a method of modifying the characteristics of a foam bun for use as a pillow and the like by producing a flexible foam structure whose cells are at least partially mechanically reticulated. This mechanical reticulation, provided by mechanically cutting cores from the bun, enhances the porosity and resiliency of the bun.
A method and apparatus for directing a foamed material, such as a foamed binder, across the lateral dimension of a moving surface in a uniform and controlled metered flow. In accordance with the method the foamed material is fed into an interior compartment of an applicator unit and is spread laterally as it moves through the compartment toward a laterally extending metering flow gap. After being laterally spread the foamed material is metered in a uniform, controlled manner across the lateral d...
Apparatus for manufacturing low density, cured urea/formaldehyde resin foams includes a centrifugal mixing head comprising a casing and an impeller rotatably mounted therein, the casing having an inlet directed generally axially with respect to the axis of rotation of the impeller and an outlet directed generally tangentially relative to said axis.
