A novel optical device that is mounted on the handle-bars of a bicycle and provides a rectified forward looking field of view for a bike rider is bent over the handlebars in the head down bike riding position and looking in downward direction. It consists of a first reflecting surface which receives light from the field of view and directs it to a second reflecting surface which, in turn, directs it to the bike rider.
A feed-forward amplifier in which samples of the input and output signals a main amplifier are adjusted in amplitude and algebraically combined to produce a sample of the error introduced into the output signal by distortion and noise in the main amplifier. This error sample is amplified to produce a correction signal by a subsidiary amplifier which itself introduces noise and distortion. The correction signal is algebraically combined with the output signal of the main amplifier and a fraction ...
Disclosed is an automatic control system for a powershift, preselect transmission (10) including a plurality of power paths (36, 38) alternately connectable between input (12) and output (20) shafts by first engaging selected ones of synchronizer clutches (42, 74, 84) associated with each of a plurality speed ratio gears (44, 46, 76, 78, 80) in each path and then alternately engaging a powershift clutch (48, 82) associated with each path. The control system includes a hydraulic logic system (118...
A forward error correcting apparatus employing the Kasami algorithm for trapping errors in a half-rate Golay codeword. The Golay code is defined as an (n, k, t) or (23, 12, 3) polynomial code in which each codeword is n=23 bits long, contains k=12 data bits and (n-k)=11 redundant check bits, and corrects up to a maximum of t=3 errors. The forward error correcting apparatus includes an input data register circuit arranged to receive, store and shift therealong the data bits of the Golay codeword,...
A feed-forward system for reducing the distortion products from a device such as an amplifier, wherein samples of the distortion products from the output of the device in one or more frequency bands whose bandwidths are less than that of the device are extracted, adjusted in amplitude and phase and subtractively combined with the device output to produce a system output in which distortion in the frequency bands is reduced.
An optical smoke detector having a conical masking body located directly between a light source and a light receiver. The masking body is provided with a reflecting surface so that rays from the light source are diverted into a reaction zone to supplement direct rays from the light source to the zone. In one embodiment the reflecting surface is cuspidate while in another embodiment a second masking body is added which shadows the light receiver from viewing the base of the first masking body.
A store and forward apparatus includes a deserializer for deserializing received frames of data into a sequence of n-bit words. Each frame includes a header, a data field and a frame checking sequence (FCS) generated by a first telecommunication node. The apparatus includes a storage for storing the deserialized n-bit words, and a processor for addressing the storage and for generating n-bit words corresponding to a new header of the received frame. The apparatus also includes a serializer recei...
An aircraft engine mount includes an annular casing fixedly disposed in the engine, a mounting platform spaced radially outwardly from the casing and fixedly joinable to an aircraft pylon, and a pair of circumferentially spaced apart links pivotally joined to the platform and the casing at respective radially outer and inner joints. The inner joints are circumferentially spaced closer together than the outer joints so that the intersection point of the longitudinal axes of the two links is dispo...
Improved forward transimpedance amplifiers are provided using a field effect transistor first amplification stage, direct coupled to a bipolar junction transistor second amplification stage. In some embodiments an optional third bipolar junction transistor amplification stage is provided, direct coupled from the second stage. Negative feedback signals are connected from the output of the bipolar junction transistor stage to the input of the field effect transistor stage. The invention provides s...
A forward facing connectorized terminal block is provided which contains an array of wire wrap or insulation displacement terminals in a forward facing terminal field readily accessible for cross connection to the telecommunications wires. Connectorized cables from telecommunications equipment are plugged into mating connectors mounted on the terminal block and which are wired to the rear terminal portions of the terminal field. The terminal block is extremely compact and is easily attached and ...
