The present invention provides nucleic acid molecules that encode histone deacetylase, as well as recombinant vectors and host cells that include the subject nucleic acid molecules. Also provided are histone deacetylase polypeptide compositions. The histone deacteylase nucleic acid molecules are useful in a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic applications, which are also provided.
The present invention relates to a novel use of histone and provides a pharmaceutical composition containing histone as an active ingredient to improve the symptoms of progressive, inflammatory and autoimmune arthritis. The pharmaceutical composition of the present invention includes histone, especially histone H1 as an active ingredient, and could include pharmacologically approved carriers if necessary. Histone H1 lowered induction of arthritis and reduced arthritis index more effectively than...
The present invention provides for methods of treating and preventing cardiac hypertrophy. Class II HDACs, which are known to participate in regulation of chromatin structure and gene expression, have been shown to have beneficial effects on cardiac hypertrophy. Surprisingly, the present invention demonstrates that HDAC inhibitors inhibit cardiac hypertrophy by inhibiting fetal cardiac gene expression and interfering with sarcomeric organization.
There are provided pharmaceutical formulations with improved oral absorptivity and injections that contain, as active ingredients, high concentrations of benzamide derivatives and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, which are useful as histone deacetylase inhibitors. A pharmaceutical solution is prepared by dissolving a benzamide derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an organic solvent and/or acidic liquid, and a pharmaceutical formulation is prepared by adding a surfa...
Histone deacetylase is a metallo-enzyme with zinc at the active site. Compounds having a zinc-binding moiety, for example, an alpha-ketoepoxide group, such as an alpha-ketothio group, can inhibit histone deacetylase. Histone deacetylase inhibition can repress gene expression, including expression of genes related to tumor suppression. Accordingly, inhibition of histone deacetylase can provide an alternate route for treating cancer, hematological disorders, e.g., hemoglobinopathies, autosomal dom...
Histone deacetylase is a metallo-enzyme with zinc at the active site. Compounds having a zinc-binding moiety, for example, a trihalomethylcarbonyl group, such as a trifluoromethylcarbonyl group, can inhibit histone deacetylase. Histone deacetylase inhibition can repress gene expression, including expression of genes related to tumor suppression. Accordingly, inhibition of histone deacetylase can provide an alternate route for treating cancer, hematological disorders, e.g., hemoglobinopathies, au...
The present invention relates to newly discovered human histone deacetylases (HDACs), also referred to as histone deacetylase-like polypeptides. The polynucleotide sequences and encoded polypeptides of the novel HDACs are encompassed by the invention, as well as vectors comprising these polynucleotides and host cells comprising these vectors. The invention also relates to antibodies that bind to the disclosed HDAC polypeptides, and methods employing these antibodies. Also related are methods of ...
This invention comprises the novel compounds of formula (I) wherein n, m, t, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, L, Q, X, Y and have defined meanings, having histone deacetylase inhibiting enzymatic activity; their preparation, compositions containing them and their use as a medicine. ##STR00001##
The invention relates to a combination which comprises (a) a cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor ("COX-2 inhibitor") and (b) a histone deacetylase inhibitor ("HDAI") for simultaneous, concurrent, separate or sequential use, especially for use in the treatment of pre-malignant colon lesions or a colon cancer or other malignancies in a mammal, particularly a human. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising such a combination and to a method of treating pre-malignant colon lesions...
