A package of insulation comprising a roll of a fibrous insulation blanket, the roll being compressed and flattened radially and being enclosed in a tubular wrapper of generally rectangular shape enclosing the flattened sides and the end faces of the roll, and having a handle fastened to the wrapper in the mid region of one of the side faces thereof.
The resin content and electrical insulating capability of porous insulation is enhanced by providing the outer portion of the insulation with cure accelerator for the resin impregnant whereby the outer portion cures more rapidly than the inner portion.
Disclosed is a method for applying and curing thermo insulation to an aluum substructure, and particularly, to an elliptical cone shaped aluminum substructure. The method comprises curing and bonding a thin covering of insulation to the aluminum substructure by a one step curing procedure. The insulation thickness is in the range of about 0.0600 inches. The insulation which is comprised of epoxy-phenolic film adhesive and silica fabric-phenolic resin is cured under a predetermined amount of heat...
A system for insulating the walls of furnaces and other heated structures with ceramic fiber insulation including an improved insulation anchor. The anchor includes a pin which is attached to the furnace wall such as by stud welding with the pin having an elongated aperture at its outer end. A retaining rod extends through the aperture and into the adjacent ceramic fiber modules. The rectangular shaped rod includes an improved means for locking the rod in the aperture which comprises a crimp at ...
Thermal insulation with a double-walled housing, between the two housing walls of which an evacuated space is provided which contains at least one fiber-like insulating material which retards the heat flow between the two housing walls and is arranged perpendicularly to the temperature gradient. The insulating material is formed by glass fibers which are made of at least two different glass materials, and the modulus of elasticity of which remains large at temperatures above 400.degree. C.
The invention relates to an electrical insulation composition of a polyolefin, which can be used for medium and high voltage from about 10 kV and which resists effectively and permanently the formation of so-called water trees. The insulative polyolefin contains an inorganic oxide additive, in homogeneous distribution therewith, at a concentration of 0.05 to 10% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. The additive is absorption-active for heavy metal ions and/or binds heavy m...
An improved insulation system is used to insulate the roof of a metal building. The insulation system includes insulating boards which are suspended beneath roof panels by flexible sheets of material. The flexible sheets are attached to structural members, that is, to purlins beneath the roof panels. The flexible sheets have a width which is greater than the width of the insulating boards so that longitudinally extending edge portions of the sheets project outwardly from the edges of the insulat...
Building insulation for installation between joists above a crawl space, basement or garage area comprising a layer of insulating material having a vapor barrier layer on the top thereof and a flexible reticulated member at the bottom thereof, such member having fastening flanges thereon extending downwardly and adapted to be secured to the sides of the joists, whereby the reticulated member supports the insulating material and vapor barrier layer.
A hopper cylindrical about a vertical axis has an agitator with blades rotating near the bottom of the hopper, not only to agitate insulation but also to move it through a hopper outlet opening into an airlock having a horizontal shaft and radially spaced blades. The vertical shaft for the hopper agitator and the horizontal airlock shaft are aligned so that one may be driven from the other, as by miter gears. A motor and reduction gearing may drive the airlock shaft, through a chain and sprocket...
The invention relates to electric insulation of polyolefin suitable for medium and high voltage from about 10 kV which resists the formation of so-called water trees. For this purpose, the insulation contains as an additive at least one alcoholate of magnesium, calcium or aluminum. The electric insulation according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in cables and wires.
