A method of making steel in several stages under a reaction slag and accompanied by addition of oxygen carriers involving the moving of a metallurigical vessel along at least one line along which each step of a plurality of metallurigical process steps is carried out.
A method of making a tissue web is disclosed for forming a wet web, drying the web, winding the dried web to form a plurality of parent rolls, unwinding the parent rolls using center drive unwind means, moving the partially unwound roll to effect splicing with a subsequent parent roll, and rewinding the thus united web. In one aspect, a method of making a tissue web is disclosed for the production of a soft, high bulk uncreped throughdried tissue web by depositing an aqueous suspension of paperm...
A candle is made by first positioning a core element centrally in an upwardly open candle mold with the element spaced from an inner wall surface of the mold and from a lower wall of the mold, then extending a thin rod up through the lower wall of the mold to a position at least at a lower end of the core element in the mold, and then filling the mold around the core element and rod with molten wax. This wax is then cooled and hardened around the core element and rod to a hard body and the core ...
A structural member for mounting in a groove formed along a panel of a cabinet. This member has a base with a central dividing wall projecting from its top face and a pair of lateral wings converging, at 45.degree., from the side edges of the base, toward the central wall and terminating short of the central wall. The base, the central wall and the wings define a pair of outwardly open cavities each having a generally right angle trapezoidal contour in cross-section and extending along the base....
A process for improving art chemistry in papermaking is accomplished by the addition of a cationic polymer and natural hectorite to the furnish prior to headbox. The cationic polymer has an intrinsic viscosity in the range of 5 to 25 dl/g and a charge density of 0.78 to 5 equivalent cationic nitrogen per Kg. The natural hectorite is added in an amount of 0.5 to 6 lbs/ton dry base sheet and the weight ratio of cationic polymer to natural hectorite being 0.5:1 to 10:1.
In gear making apparatus a rotary cutter has a tool holding body with a plurality of tools removably mounted in recesses spaced around the body periphery, each tool having a profile generating cutting edge at the intersection of two planar surfaces, each recess having at least one planar surface in flush contact with one of the planar surfaces of the mounted tool to positively locate the cutting edge so that all cutting edges lie on a single surface of revolution.
Methods and apparatus for making shaped upper components for a shoe, Whole upper components or upper part upper components can be made. Vacuum and pressure forming techniques for conforming initially flat material to a moulding surface are disclosed. The moulding surfaces may be of a shape whereby the preformed upper is convertible to the shape of the last merely by a bending operation. The mould shape can be arrived at by forming a sheet of resiliently bendable material such as unplasticized PV...
Method and apparatus for producing frozen product characterized by flowing liquid substantially uniformly over a substantially vertically oriented freezing mold; supplying liquid refrigerant to a conductive surface in the freezing mold for freezing the liquid into predetermined shapes; collecting the excess liquid into a reservoir and circulating the excess liquid back over the top of the freezing mold, the liquid being at its freezing point; stopping the circulation of the liquid over the freez...
Apparatus for making gears, featuring a workpiece support mounted to provide rotation of the workpiece about its axis at a basic rate; a cutter having profile generating cutting edges mounted for rotation about a cutter axis at a basic rate bearing a ratio to the basic workpiece rate dependent upon the ratio of the number of profiles being generated to the number of profile generating cutting edges in the cutter, the cutter axis being at an angle to the workpiece axis which differs from 90.degre...
Apparatus for making gears of hyperboloidal form, comprising a cutter having profile generating cutting edges mounted for movement about a common axis, and a support for a workpiece rotatable about a workpiece axis; the support and the cutter being mounted for relative pivotal movement about a feed axis nonparallel to the workpiece axis; the support and the cutter having basic rates of simultaneous movement about the workpiece and cutter axes, respectively, in the absence of the pivotal movement...
