A food product containing an effective amount of a water-soluble alkali metal or ammonium huminate with a molecular weight of up to 50,000 D produced synthetically by oxidation of multi-valent phenolic compounds sufficient to protect the gastric and intestinal regions of a warm-blooded animal.
Reduced fat content butter products prepared from dairy cream. Lecithin and/or a stabilizer can be added to the dairy cream to optimize the product. Dairy products--milk, skim milk, and dairy fats--are employed as required to adjust the fat content of the product; and optional ingredients may be added to, inter alia: adjust the texture of the product, inhibit oxidation and otherwise extend shelf life, alter color, and enhance flavor. The product may have a fat content low enough to qualify it as...
Honey butters prepared from a honey and dairy cream. The product may have a fat content low enough to qualify it as a reduced...
Apparatus for manufacturing low density, cured urea/formaldehyde resin foams includes a centrifugal mixing head comprising a casing and an impeller rotatably mounted therein, the casing having an inlet directed generally axially with respect to the axis of rotation of the impeller and an outlet directed generally tangentially relative to said axis.
An aniline is converted to a 3-lower hydrocarbonthiooxindole by processes already known in the art, the product converted to a 3-halo-3-lower hydrocarbonthiooxindole by oxidative halogenation, and the product subjected to hydrolysis to form the desired isatins.
This invention relates to a method of making a gypsum product wherein a hot homogeneous mixture of pitch and a suitable organic material are mixed with gypsum and water to form a slurry. This slurry is then formed, allowed to set and then heated to a temperature above the melting points of both constituents of the mixture but below the temperature at which there is any significant deterioration of the product.
A process for the stabilization against water of a vermiculite article and the resultant product. The process consists essentially of contacting the article with the vapor of a nitrogen compound having the formula: ##STR1## where R1, R2 and R3 which may be the same or different are either hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups containing up to seven carbon atoms, provided that where R2 and R3 are both hydrogen atoms, R1 is an alkyl group containing less than three or more than six carbon atoms.
Dry particulate polymeric products, generally spray dried granules, are made by reverse phase polymerization in a partially water miscible continuous phase in the presence of an ionizable stabilizer which is water soluble when ionized and water insoluble when unionized, with the result that all the contamination in the products can be water soluble or miscible. The products are of value as flocculants and viscosifiers, for instance for cosmetic or pharmaceutical clear gels.
A pesticidal material which comprises an inclusion compound or a molecular complex of a pesticide and a host molecule characterized in that the host molecule is a mono-, oligo- or polysaccharide ester. A pesticidal composition and a method for combatting insect pests involving the above pesticidal material are also described.
The characteristics of compacted sodium silicate, in particular the bulk density, are improved by heating the material at an elevated temperature in an agitated bed. Bulk density in the region of 1 kg/liter can be obtained.
