A case coder is automatically adjustable to accommodate different sizes of cases. It includes an infeed for advancing cases into the coder and a switch device for sensing the size of each of the incoming cases. A brake stops each of the incoming cases and releases cases to be pushed onto an intermittently driven conveyor advancing the cases through the coder, and the brake holds any different size case that appears while the coder is cleared of all the preceding cases. Then an axially movable sh...
A random access memory system employing dynamic storage wherein each cell comprises a single active element. The memory employs MOS technology and is disposed on a silicon substrate. A plurality of sense amplifiers are disposed in a column substantially bisecting each row of memory cells in the memory array. A single input/output line communicates with all the cells. Two dummy cells are employed on each row line on opposite sides of the sense amplifiers. The value of the signal provided by the d...
Random or chance operating selective switching apparatus including two switching devices each having a duty cycle in which a plurality of circuit connections are scanned repetitiously and each switching device or means operates to select at least one determinant connection as a function of termination of its duty cycle. The first switching means selects a determinant probability connection and the second a determinant search connection; each such search connection being associated with a particu...
A packing for biologically treataing waste water in a percolating filter comprising randomly packed extruded hollow cylindrical pieces of an organic polymeric material, the wall of each cylindrical piece being provided, throughout its length, as a plurality of corrugations which lie in planes which are transverse to or oblique to the main axis of the cylindrical piece.
A method of producing novel polyester yarns, threads or fabrics in which a previously unstretched melt-spun yarn such as polyethylene terephthalate is stretched upon a stationary heated stretching pin of a diameter of 15-60mm. and a pin temperature of 60.degree.-105.degree.C., the yarn being drawn at a stretching ratio of 60-80 percent of the normal ratio while placing the yarn under a thread tension after the pin of 0.2 to 1.1 grams/denier with a ratio of thread tension after the pin to that be...
A system for generating a series of psuedo random numbers so that numbers in the sequence may be randomly accessed. The system includes apparatus for scrambling the bits of a plurality of seed numbers. The pattern of bit scrambling is governed by the control number. The plurality of scrambled seed numbers are exclusive-OR'ed to produce an output number. As long as the seed numbers remain unchanged, a given control number will always produce the same psuedo random number.
A random access memory arrangement for reading data out of and into a random access memory asynchronously, for example, to effect time base correction of a digital television signal, comprises a random access memory having common read and write data terminals, an input circuit for supplying input data to said read and write data terminals for writing in the random access memory, a first output latch circuit connected to the read and write data terminals, a second output latch circuit connected t...
A device for producing a random output for use in conjunction primarily with games includes a housing having a first and second wheel each independently mounted within the housing and capable of rotating with respect to the housing. A portion of each of the wheels is exposed outside of the housing such that it can be contacted against a surface and each of the wheels independently rotated with respect to the housing as the housing is moved with respect to the surface. An indicating member is mou...
A word game utilizing random selection of predetermined letters including a game board having a plurality of sets of letters arranged in successive positions in a path from a start to a finish; each position including at least one letter; each set having a distinctive designation; means for marking selected positions along each path; and a die associated with each set and having on each of its faces the distinctive designation of its associated set; each die also containing on each face indicia ...
Random voltage spike incident to any appliance load change in electrical supply circuit is sensed by a triac used to close a time limited holding circuit for an electric light circuit to provide random on/off lights "at home" indication for unoccupied premises.
