A pattern recognition system for protecting against the theft of automobiles, the unauthorized opening of doors, the unauthorized opening of other items such as brief cases and the like is disclosed. The system of this invention includes a matrix card having a matrix array, a card reader and a comparator. Elements of the array on the card are perforated to provide a coded pattern on the card. The reader senses these perforations and senses those elements of the array that are not perforated. The...
A signal encoder and classifier particularly adapted to speech recognition includes a circularly addressed buffer which is independently addressed by a new data writing address system and a buffered data reading system so that writing and reading of data may be accomplished on a time shared basis. This time shared operation permits serial writing and reading of the pattern data without interrupting income signal storage. The writing data address system addresses the data into the buffer in a cir...
A practice for storage recognition of unknown document characters contained in a matrix representation of a document region wherein a plurality of arrays of matrix positions incrementally displaced in accordance with a predetermined displacement pattern are interrogated and the results of these interrogations processed in accordance with predetermined reference character recognition equations to derive catalogues of errors. The lowest errors in the derived catalogues are analyzed to determine th...
Apparatus useful in pattern recognition comprising a two-dimensional lattice array of nodal points, said points being occupied by summing amplifiers having positive and negative input terminals, and output terminals, a corresponding input array of points carrying voltage levels, said points being representative of a two-dimensional array of pixels the pattern of which is to be analyzed, said pattern being a member of a set of patterns characterized by an archetypal pattern, electrical connection...
Apparatus and method for observing containers which are transported through an illumination station, and generating a recognition signal on the basis of leading edge scanning information. Leading edge scanning information is produced by a trigger photodetector and a plurality of vertically arranged registration photodetectors. A container which is to be recognized is carried through the illumination station by a conveyor, and the conveyor generates conveyor clock pulses corresponding to actual m...
A character recognition system is disclosed in which feature characteristics of an analog waveform representing an unknown character are applied to a plurality of templates each representing a known character and consisting of a number of windows in which the feature characteristics of the known character are to be located. Hardware implemented circuits compare each feature characteristic of the unknown character with each window of the template. If a feature characteristic is found outside the ...
A speech recognition system adaptable to noisy environments is disclosed. The system includes a recognition unit for recognizing input speech signals and a noise measuring unit for measuring the intensity of ambient noises. The system also includes a rejection unit responsive to a rejection standard controlled by the intensity of the measured noise for rejecting the rejection results given from the recognition unit when the rejection standard is exceeded.
Sounds produced by human or mechanical sources are recognized by comparison of certain waveform characteristic ratios with prestored ratios. Transitions and transition glides of characteristics are used to select certain stored groups of ratios for comparing.
In this speech recognition system the array formed by a timewise sequence of speech signal feature vectors includes digital data at each time slot representing both presence/absence and consistency of occurence.
An improved associative memory employs plural separately addressable memories, e.g., random access memories (RAM's), which may be written into, or read from in conventional fashion. In a recognition mode, information is read from differing memory locations, and compared with an operand supplied on a data bus by a central processing unit (CPU), comparator apparatus being common for an array of storage locations. The comparison results, determined in accordance with a CPU-specified criterion, are ...
