A signal lamp is disclosed for use in automotive vehicles. The lamp includes a housing, a reflector for producing parallel rays, a lens closing the housing in the direction of light exit and diaphragms mounted behind the lens. The outside of the lens is provided with non-reflecting or weakly reflecting transverse stripes to avoid undesired reflections. In one advantageous embodiment, the diaphragms are positioned only in an upper portion of the lamp.
A received video signal that has been inverted at the transmitter is reinverted by the use of low cost pin diodes to reverse the ground and signal lead connections to the primary winding of a transformer operating at RF frequencies.
An analog-to-digital converter includes a capacitor array circuit for determining m upper bits of a digital output, which includes a plurality of capacitors having binary-weighted capacitance ratios and a plurality of switches and which is connected to an input terminal of a sampled analog voltage and a reference voltage source. A resistor string circuit is provided for determining n lower bits of the digital output, including a plurality of switches and which is connected to the capacitor array...
A device for converting the value in a mechanical register, into electrical output signals. Tracks between each tooth of each gear of the register contain the value of the teeth in binary form. In setting the gears, the tracks are aligned to form a continuous track passing through all the gears of the register. A sensing finger which is connected to a photocell runs through this continuous track to convert the setting in the register gears to electrical output signals.
An additional light bulb arranged in each red or yellow lamp of a traffic light is energized through a radio-operated switch by an approaching emergency vehicle. The switch also interrupts the normal intermittent current supply to the red, yellow, and green lamps. Movement of the emergency vehicle is facilitated by the stopping of all traffic along its route not only in transverse directions, but also in the direction of movement of the vehicle and in the opposite direction.
A safety device for water skiers, the device comprising a flag secured to a dowel which can be waved from a boat to warn other boats that a towed skier is down in the water, the flag upon its outer side being painted bright orange, the flag being able to be turned inside out so to change colors.
A weatherproof signal lantern having a lens for directing light therefrom and including a flange on the bottom and a base molded of fiberglass reinforced polyester resin plastic having a flange for sealably coacting with the lens flange. A plurality of plastic draw catches for securing the lens to the base and including additional bosses on the lens and base flanges whereby the lens and base are interchangeable with conventional type lantern lens and bases. The lens flange including a drip rail ...
A system for recognizing coded signals, such as telephone ring signals, which have a uniform duration and interval between successive signals which includes an apparatus for providing a signal corresponding to each ring or sub-signal together with one or more control signals whose start times and durations are related to the duration and spacing of the ring signals or sub-signals. The ring signals and the control signals are made to operate logic circuitry which actuates switches when the ring s...
A special purpose computer is used to calculate the statistical T-test as a measure of the significance of the difference between two sample populations. The computer includes a four channel average response computer, squaring circuits, square root circuits, dividing circuits, differential circuits and summing circuits.
The signal valve indicates when a piston, movable in a cylinder, is moved to one end of the cylinder. The signal valve includes a housing mounted on the cylinder and having first and second passageways therein which communicate with the interior of the cylinder through first and second ports in the side wall of the cylinder. The first passageway extends through the housing between the first port and a fluid pressure sensing device. The second passageway terminates within the housing. A valve mem...
