A skin barrier consisting of an elastic film (16), secured to the film a layer (18) of at least weakly elastic adhesive material, these two components together having low resistance to quick deformation and rapid recovery to substantially the original shape after deformation, the plastic properties of the adhesive thereby being compensated by the elasticity of the film. Optionally there may be a releasable protective cover (20,22) on the other side of the adhesive layer. The adhesive material co...
Skin packaging material comprising a film of thermoplastic material having a reinforcement consisting of strands (in the form of netting, or all extending in one direction parallel to one another) adapted on exposure for an appropriate time interval to a source of heat to have both the film and strands heat up to a forming temperature for being skin packaged around an article on a substrate, with the strands less extensible than the film on equal heating of the film and strands, and the skin pac...
The invention concerns a skin preparation for moistening human skin comprising a combination of a component A and a component B, wherein A includes at least two saturated C.sub.9-C.sub.31 fatty acids selected from the group consisting of iso- and anteiso fatty acids, whereby component B consists of cholesterol in an amount of 5-15% by weight of component A.
A surgical fastener for fastening layers of body tissue as in skin grafting procedures. The fastener comprises a backspan and at least two barbed prongs. The barbs are flat, triangular and are coplanar with respect to each other, as well as being in parallel alignment with the axis of the backspan. The surgical fastener is made of bioabsorbable material to eliminate the need for removal.
A material which transmits wound moisture, made up of an upper layer of an elastomer having a thickness of 0.01-0.2 mm which is provided with pores having a diameter not exceeding 0.7 .mu.m and a pore density of 1-75% of the surface, and a lower layer of an elastomer having a thickness of 0.05-1 mm which is provided with macropores having a diameter of 50-200 .mu.m, at least some of the walls of said macropores being provided with micropores having a diameter of 0.1-0.25 .mu.m, is provided. The ...
A composition useful for smoothing the skin, reducing wrinkles, and improving the moisture level and tone of the skin having minor proportions of the pharmocologically active agents pregnenolone and elastin in a pharmaceutically acceptable hydrophillic carrier vehicle. The composition may further include substances selected from aloe vera, tocopherols, vegetable, animal and synthetic oils and waxes, allantoin, and skin penetration enhancing agents, such as the lower alkyl sulfoxides.
A skin approximator has two hinged together sections provided with free ends movable towards and away from each other. The free ends carry arms which are so hinged to them that they pivot during movement of the sections towards each other and when barbs provided on these arms are inserted into the skin at opposite sides of a wound. This pivoting movement causes skin edge portions extending along the wound to become everted before they move into abutment with one another.
An aircraft deicing assembly 101 for attachment to an airfoil 99 includes a deflection shell 101 disposed over a deflection means 102. The deflection shell is comprised of a primary layer 116 comprised of a high strength fabric reinforced with a phenolic resin and a backing layer 115 comprised of a high strength fabric reinforced with an epoxy resin. The thickness of the backing layer is varied as a function of curvature of the airfoil and spanwise length of the airfoil.
A personal antiperspirant product contains a moisture-absorbent polymer instead of or in addition to the usual metal salt. The product is applied to the skin in a finely divided form to give a dry, non-sticky deposit for absorbing skin moisture such as perspiration. The polymer is capable of absorbing an amount of moisture at least equal to its own weight after depositing the product onto the skin.
