The invention relates to a drive mandrel for a drilling stem. The mandrel comprises a tubular element traversed by the drilling stem and having openings for the passage of jaws urged against the stem under the action of wedges. The wedges are spring biased against the jaws, and repelled from said jaws by hydraulic thrust. The wedges are mounted on an axially adjustable flange.
A balanced stem gate valve incorporating a slab gate having hard friction resistant sealing face surfaces that cooperate with friction resistant seat assemblies to provide for low operating torque under high pressure conditions. Seat carrier rings are supported within the valve chamber and define seal recesses within which are retained a metal back-up seal ring and a hard friction resistant face sealing ring that is compatible with the sealing surface material of the gate. Metal-to-metal back se...
A device for cleaning and lubricating threaded valve stems. In one form the device comprises a bracket attached to a valve hand wheel comprising a circular wire brush which is adjustable to engage the threads of the valve stem at one side with provisions of dropping oil on the brush to lubricate the valve stem. In another form means are provided for supporting diametrically opposed wire brushes to engage the opposite sides of the valve stem for cleaning the threads. In still another form, a circ...
A valve stem seal for an intake or exhaust valve in an internal combustion engine where the seal allows a metered amount of oil to run down the valve stem for lubrication of the stem in its valve guide. The seal is formed of a relatively rigid valve seal body having a cylindrical wall or skirt engaging the valve guide boss and an upper radially inwardly offset cylindrical wall of a smaller diameter with a radially inwardly extending flange having metering grooves on the upper and lower surfaces ...
A valve comprises a casing having a passageway therethrough for the flow of fluid and a bore intersecting the passageway. A flow regulating member is rotatably mounted in the bore for blocking the passageway in the valve closed position of the flow regulating member. The flow regulating member has a port therethrough for connecting and being in communication with the passageway in the valve open position. The flow regulating member and the casing define a first chamber at one end of the flow reg...
A fluid flow valve stem for a vessel, tire, or the like comprising a sleeve having an inner annular valve seat, an end cap secured to one end of the sleeve by a vacuum lock, and a captive plunger interposed between the valve seat and end cap, and having a seal member biased by a spring into engagement with the valve seat. The sleeve is encapsulated within a polymeric body which is securable to a vessel, tire wheel, or the like. Alternatively, the end cap may be directly secured to an inner tube ...
A valve stem lock for valves having an exposed valve stem. The lock is comprised of a pair of hinged sections movable from an open position to a closed position to lock about a valve stem. The two sections are provided with a base having slots which are adapted to bear against exposed bolts or the yoke of the valve stem so that rotation of the valve stem upon removal of a part such as a bushing nut or the like is prevented. The two hinged sections are adapted to be locked together in the closed ...
A valve stem and lock include a housing surrounding a valve stem, a solenoid affixed to an interior wall of the housing, an armature affixed to the valve stem and a locking device for coupling the armature to the housing body. When the solenoid is energized, the solenoid moves away from the housing body, permitting rotation of the valve stem.
A valve stem actuator for a slurry valve or the like includes a support frame extending from the valve body to a linear operator having a cylinder and piston. Means are provided for connecting the piston rod to the valve stem and means reciprocally mounted on the support frame rotate the valve stem with respect to the valve body independently of the linear movement of the valve stem to dislodge accumulated crust to permit the valve disc to properly seat to prevent fluid flow through the valve. T...
A stem for a semiconductor laser device of a terraced substrate structure which has a tilted active layer against flat parts of the substrate, the stem comprises a base plate and a heat sink block, a flat face of the heat sink block for bonding the semiconductor laser device thereonto is tilted with respect to a base face of the base plate; this stem has features that the polarization direction of the lased light from the semiconductor laser device can be set to be parallel to (or perpendicular ...
