A process of increasing the melt processing of synthetic polyamides, in particular pigmented and/or filled synthetic polyamide, by adding thereto an additive having the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a methyl group as such or in the form of a stabilizer masterbatch composition. The invention also relates to modified synthetic polyamides obtainable by this process having improved properties due to the stabilization effect of the compound of the above formula (I).
A synthetic grass surface comprising widely spaced rows of ribbons and the ribbons having a length about twice as long as the spacing between the rows of ribbons. A particulate material is laid on a matrix of the synthetic grass, and the thickness of the particulate material is as least two-thirds the length of the ribbons. The strips of ribbons are attached by strips of bonding material applied to the back of the matrix or mat. The strips of bonding material are spaced apart and leave areas of ...
There is disclosed a synthetic asphalt comprising a synthetic bitumen mixed with filler and aggregate. Pigments may be added to the synthetic asphalt so as to produce a wide range of differently-colored surfacing materials. The synthetic asphalt may be applied hot and embossed with a groove pattern so as to simulate a block paved surface.
A method for synthesizing multiple intermediate view images from a pair of planostereoscopic source images. The source images have different perspective views which are spaced apart in a horizontal plane. Control points are defined at corresponding locations in the source images, and each control point includes position and color information. Intermediate images are created as transformations of the source images by "morphing" from one source image to the other using position and color informati...
By achieving an extruded, foamed core formed from plastic material peripherally surrounded and integrally bonded with a cooperating synthetic, plastic, extruded, outer layer, a unique, multi-component, multi-layer synthetic closure is provided which may be employed as a bottle closure or stopper for any desired product, whether the product is a liquid, a viscous material, or a solid distributed in a bottle or container and dispensed through the open portal of the container neck. The present inve...
A process is disclosed for forming a synthetic fiber including providing a first component of an aliphatic polyester polymer a second component of a multicarboxylic acid, mixing the first component aliphatic polyester polymer and the second component multicarboxylic acid to form an unreacted specified thermoplastic composition, and melt blending the unreacted specified thermoplastic composition in an extruder or a mixer. The second component multicarboxylic acid lubricates the extruder and provi...
The specification discloses a synthetic paper composite web containing a relatively smooth, dense top layer comprising synthetic pulp, a relatively soft non-woven base layer of synthetic filaments and a low density polyolefin film layer substantially continuously interbonding the top and base layers together along their interface. An advantage of the composite of the invention is that it is substantially weather resistant, strong, recyclable and compatible with a range of inks and printing syste...

Synthetic elements for enhancing expression of genes in plant cells are disclosed. These include a promoter with a "TATA to start" sequence containing 64% or greater GC content and an synthetic upstream element incorporating several OCS binding motifs and novel flanking sequences. Upstream activating regions (UARs) are also disclosed that can further increase the constitutive transcriptional activity when they are operably linked to said promoter and/or the synthetic upstream element. In particu...
