A system having shallow depth capabilities for arming a submerged ordnance evice independently of hydrostatic pressure, including a block having a cylinder therein; a piston having a radial bore therethrough slidably mounted in the block to form an expansible chamber in the inner extremity of the cylinder; an electrically energizable gas generating squib in fluid communication with the expansible chamber to increase the pressure therein; a port in the block providing fluid communication between ...
A plurality of horizontally disposed rolled steel girders and beams are secured to vertical columns to form a plurality of frames and bays. A plurality of end-notched, pre-cast concrete joists are supported by and transversely extend between the girders to provide lateral stability therefor. At selected lateral intervals along the girders, lines of these joists are connected together over the compression flanges of the supporting girders to form continuous tension or compression ties across the ...
A conveyor system has an endless conveyor arranged for providing a conveyor path from a food service area to a food order filling area, and a gravity conveyor receiving orders from the endless conveyor at the order filling area and moving the orders to an associated work station for processing. Balanced clips are used to guide the orders along the endless and gravity conveyors. The clips are returned to the service area from the order filling area via the endless conveyor for reuse.
An elevator system including one or more elevator cars mounted in a structure to serve the floors therein. When the demand for elevator service is at and above a predetermined level the elevator cars operate at rated maximum velocity and acceleration. When the demand falls below the predetermined level, the cars automatically operate in a reduced maximum velocity and/or accleration mode.
A drilling system includes a drill pipe and a cutting means located therein. A locking mechanism with said drill pipe is provided on said cutting means and is operatively connected with a spearhead engageable with an engaging mechanism of a pulling-up device so that, when the spearhead is pulled, an inner tube and outer tube forming a part of the locking mechanism may move relative to each other to unlock the drill pipe and cutting means for quickly and easily pulling up the latter.
The tilt and elevation bearings of a gun mounted in the triaxially movable turret of an armored vehicle is supported by a substantially triangularly shaped carrier extending in the longitudinal direction of the gun and by a brace laterally spaced from the carrier. Both carrier and brace are connected to the inner ring of an azimuth bearing mounted in the body of the armored vehicle below the turret. In this way the undesirable springiness of prior supports is eliminated.
An elevator system including an elevator car and a counterweight interconnected via a traction drive arrangement which includes a drive machine and hoist roping. A compensating system, including compensating roping and a compensator sheave, interconnect the car and counterweight, to compensate for the weight of the hoist roping as the elevator car and counterweight move in their respective travel paths. The compensator sheave includes first and second spaced but interconnected rim portions. A gu...
An electrophoretic imaging system is described in which a particulate image is transferred to a receiving sheet having a water tackifiable surface. The surface is moistened, pressed against the image and dried. In a preferred embodiment, the water tackifiable material is converted to a water insoluble form by heat after transfer of the image.
A novel weighing system for material handling apparatus. The system utilizes a plurality of fixed and movable load cells arranged in a stable three-point configuration. Uneven distribution of the material does not affect the stability of the system and an accurate weight of the material is determined.
Acoustic energy generated at, or reflected from, a specific area in the ocean is collected by an array of n transducer elements. The signals from these elements are amplified, processed and fed to a scaled down set of n transmitting transducer elements similarly shaped and similarly positioned relative to each other. These transmitting elements are located in one region of a tank of liquid and an array of detectors for monitoring the sonic energy distribution is located in another region of the ...
