A trap comprising a three-dimensional frame formed by a pair of spaced, superposed bent wire rings. A coil spring is mounted on the frame and its free end functions as a gripping arm capable of radial movement between the rings. Two-part latch means is mounted on one of the frame sides, near its mid-point, and operates pivotally in a plane transverse to the plane of the frame. Trigger means is attached to one of the latch members and lies spaced from and generally parallel to the frame plane whe...
Methods and-apparatus implementing a technique for forming a trap polygon which does not interfere with the print quality of other trap polygons or objects. Edges in close proximity to a color transition edge ("CTE") are checked for potential interference. A trap polygon is formed for the CTE that avoids any interfering edges or trap polygons for those edges. The technique can be applied to form a trap polygon for each edge in a page to be printed. In general, in one aspect, forming a trap polyg...
An animal trap includes a frame, a striker, a biasing member, a set lever and a trigger. The frame includes an upper wall, a first side member depending from the upper wall and a second side member spaced from the first side member and depending from the upper wall. The striker mounts to at least one of the upper wall, the first side member and the second side member. The biasing member biases the striker away from the upper wall toward a direction that the side members depend from the upper wal...
The grease trap is a device that may be attached to the drainpipe of a sink and the outlet pipe of a plumbing system to remove grease from wastewater before it enters the plumbing system. The device uses simple principles of gravity and separation of immiscible liquids to achieve this goal. Also provided with the present invention is a vent pipe to decrease the production of unpleasant odors. A covered opening is provided for removing the grease periodically.
A heat trap assembly for a hot water tank includes a heat trap insert and a sealing member retained by the heat trap insert. The heat trap insert includes a seat having an opening that is dimensioned to be covered by the sealing member when no water is flowing through the assembly. The heat trap insert also includes a plurality of fingers to retain the sealing member when water is flowing through the heat trap assembly.
A yellow jacket and fly trap. The main body of the trap is produced from a screen and has a narrowing inlet passage with a passage defining an oblong inlet from the passage into a holding chamber. A bait receptacle is removably mounted within the passage.
An insect trap comprises a crawl path made of a plurality of resilient deflectable strips. An enclosure enclosing the crawl path comprises an inner passageway leading from an aperture through which the insect enters to a confined chamber. The exit of the passageway is normally closed until the crawl path deflects to allow the insect to exit. The insect is lured by an insect attractant placed inside the chamber and alights on the crawl path. The crawl path deflects downwardly to reveal an opening...
A vortex grit trap comprising a generally vertically extending tank of circular cross-section including a separation zone having an inlet and an outlet for liquid flow to and from the tank, and in which liquid is circulated about a longitudinal axis of the tank, and, a grit collection zone positioned beneath the separation zone in use, the trap being characterized by a generally circular tank divider centered on the vertical longitudinal axis of the tank and extending transverse thereto, the div...
A method and a device (10) for trapping insects which feed on mammalian blood, such as mosquitoes, utilize in combination a chemical attractant (24) and a physical attractant consisting of a dark panel (22), heated to e.g., 30 to 45 degrees Celsius. The chemical attractant may include carbon dioxide, generated for example by action of microorganisms on a fermentable substrate in aqueous medium, or it may be selected from fermenting yeast, yeast extract, peptone, acetone, lactic acid and carbon d...
A bail-type animal trap for small rodents and the like, having a self-setting triggering mechanism. The trap includes a spring-loaded, bail-type striker which is hinged to the upper surface of the base. The striker is releasably retained in the cocked position by a resilient latch which is connected by a wire or rod to a trigger plate which is adapted to hold a piece of bait. The trigger plate engages a stop affixed to the base. The trigger plate includes an integral catch for engaging the stop,...
