A method for observing a moving web having printed thereon a regularly repeated pattern and control features along the web, comprising mounting two photoelectric cells a fixed distance apart in the direction of movement of the web, the photoelectric cells being adapted simultaneously to scan identical data in different locations on said web, the cells being connected in an electrical circuit which is balanced when they observe identical data and which produces an output when they observe non-ide...
The present invention is a method for producing an absorbent article. A wet resillient, cellulosic basesheet having elevated and depressed regions with an Overall Surface Depth of at least 0.2 mm is prepared. The cellulosic basesheet has an upper surface and a lower surface. A contiguous, fibrous nonwoven web having a plurality of openings is integrally attached onto the upper surface of the cellulosic basesheet such that a portion of the openings are superposed over the depressed regions of the...
A device for processing continuous webs has a machine frame and at least one tool arranged on the machine frame for processing the continuous web. A drive device is provided for driving the at least one tool. The drive device is a two-row gear wheel having a first toothing and a second toothing, wherein the first toothing has an inch-based division and the second toothing has a metric division. The at least one tool is driven by the first toothing when processing the continuous web according to ...
Apparatus for winding a web (1) on a winding roll (2), comprises at least a first and a second roll (3, 4) and a third roll (5), said first roll being located on one side and said second roll and said third roll being located on the other side of the path of said web in course of winding on said winding roll. Said first and second rolls and said third roll are movable towards each other and towards said winding roll, so that said third roll get sandwiched between said winding roll on one hand an...
A device for the cross perforation of webs, preferably paper webs for producing sacks, comprises a rotatingly driven perforating blade and a grooved roller, both of which are mounted on a machine frame and between them passes the web to be perforated. To adjust the penetration depth of the teeth of the perforating blade into the ring grooves of the grooved roller, there is at least one adjusting device for changing the distance between the axes of rotation of the perforating blade and the groove...
A water jet cutting device is used to cut a paper web into a plurality of partial paper webs. The water jet cutting device is placed between the output of a web-fed rotary printing press and the input of a folder which folds the plurality of partial paper webs.
A laminating apparatus (20) for laminating a longitudinal web (19) on a transverse web (28) by maintaining transverse fibrous elements (62) in the transverse direction as much as possible, wherein a skew correction device (39) for correcting the skew of the transverse web in contact with both selvage portions (57, 57) of the transverse web, includes first and second rolls (101, 102) arranged on the side of one selvage portion and the other selvage portion of the transverse web, a common roll (10...
An apparatus and method for increasing the heating efficiency of a nonwoven web using heated air are provided. A flow modifier including a turbulence inducing bar arrangement is positioned between the heated air supply and the nonwoven web. The flow modifier increases the turbulence of the heated air before it contacts the nonwoven web, resulting in more thorough penetration of the web by the air, and better convective heat transfer between the heated air and the nonwoven web.
Provided is a process for preparing a smooth and glossy surfaced paper web. The process comprises subjecting the paper web to shear by using calender rolls driven at different speeds or calender rolls with different diameters. The resulting paper has a totally different structure than the original paper, as it has a much smaller void structure and a much higher degree of bonding between the elements of the sheet. The process is particularly applicable to improving the electrical insulation prope...
A novel non-woven fiber web comprising a plurality of first fibers orientated in the x-, y-, and optionally z-directions, said first fibers being bonded with a polymeric substance, characterised in that one or more continuous strands are embedded within the sub-surface layer of the non-woven fiber web, each continuous strand comprising a plurality of second carbon fibers, is disclosed. A gas diffusion substrate, electrode and membrane electrode assembly comprising said web is also disclosed, all...
