Apparatus for automatically supplying empty bobbins to a windup position and for carrying a woundup bobbin to a discharge position. The apparatus comprises a rotatable cage having a plurality of bobbin-receiving means and which cage is indexed so as to carry a bobbin from one position or station to yarn-winding-up position and thence to the discharge position. Conveniently the apparatus consists of a series of cages mounted for rotation on a common shaft.
A process for producing textured yarns from synthetic fiber yarns including the steps of knitting the yarn, heating the knit yarn to stabilize it prior to dyeing, dyeing the yarn, unraveling the dyed yarn and texturing the dyed yarn. The resulting yarns exhibit combinations of bulk and uniformity which are superior to those previously available commercially.
Apparatus for treating yarns and webs of material wherein a rotating perforated drum is positioned within a closed casing and has an inner centrifugal pump delivering treating fluid through the perforations to yarns or webs wound on the outer surface of the drum.
The invention concerns a method of and an apparatus for applying dyestuffs to yarns at spaced intervals therealong whereby opposed cooperating members act on the yarn simultaneously from opposite sides thereof, the members each being moved towards the yarn so as to make contact therewith. The invention is of particular use in the selective application of a range of dyestuffs to a moving yarn at intervals therealong and according to a predetermined pattern, a plurality of groups of cooperating me...
A woven panel is formed from a plurality of elongated yarns, with and without a center core. The core yarns provide mechanical strength for the woven material in supporting the coreless yarns when used in load bearing articles such as the seat or back portions of an article of furniture.
Continuous polypropylene multifilament yarns are made by melt spinning and stretching in an integral process; a sufficient number of filaments for forming at least 8 continuous filament yarns each consisting of at least 10 filaments are melt spun through a spinneret (11) at a speed of at least 400 m/min into a vertical air quenching zone or shaft (12) for solidification; the filaments are arranged to form a substantially planar array of parallel and mutually distanced yarn strands; then, the fil...
A method for winding a textile yarn into a package is disclosed, and which is characterized by the ability to produce relatively large packages which are adapted to permit a high speed unwinding by withdrawal of the yarn over one end of the package. The method involves controlling the yarn traverse guide so as to include stroke modification cycles durin which the traverse stroke is progressively increased in length and then decreased, and such that a plot of the location of the stroke end points...
An apparatus and method for feeding a knitted yarn package having a plurality of yarn ends to a textile fabric making machine. The apparatus includes takeup means for moving the yarn in the direction of the machine and tension means located upstream of the takeup means for providing resistance to the movement of the yarn in the direction of the machine. An unravelling assembly is positioned between the takeup means and the tension means for engaging the yarn ends. The unravelling assembly is ope...
The apparatus comprises two basins (1 and 2), baskets (3) which rotate in the interior of the basins. The baskets support loaders (4) which carry the reels. The loaders are actuated by a carousel conveyor (10) which is guided in its movement upwardly and downwardly by a central column (13). The carousel conveyor may rotate an 180.degree. angle. The apparatus permits loading of the reels with yarns to be treated and unloading of reels having yarns which have alreadly been treated, thus eliminatin...
A method for producing a spun yarn from staple fiber sliver by supplying an additional yarn of a different nature to the staple fiber sliver while drafting same, and imparting twists thereto by the use of an air injection nozzle. The supply of the additional yarn is started after arrival of the staple fiber sliver at the air injection nozzle.
