A method and system for mapping nodes in an M.times.N torus interconnection fabric of nodes is provided. The method includes generating an observed mapping of the nodes in the interconnection fabric showing a location of a first node relative to an x-axis of the fabric and relative to a y-axis of the fabric, comparing the observed mapping of the nodes to a set of expected mappings, and identifying the expected mapping which is most similar to the observed mapping.

The invention relates to a plate-type heat exchanger comprising a stack of double-walled heat exchanger plates (30 32) which are permanently interconnected and each include two plate members (33, 34) having a central heat transfer portion (35) and an edge portion (36) bent upwardly with respect to the plane of the central heat transfer portion (35), separate flow passage spaces for at least two heat exchange fluids being defined between the double-walled heat exchanger plates (30 32), the two pl...

A system for allowing a shoe wearer to lean forwardly beyond his center of gravity by virtue of wearing a specially designed pair of shoes which will engage with a hitch member movably projectable through a stage surface. The shoes have a specially designed heel slot which can be detachably engaged with the hitch member by simply sliding the shoe wearer's foot forward, thereby engaging with the hitch member.

An exercise device (10) has foot supports (30, 32) on which a user stands for performing a stair stepping exercise alone, or a cross country skiing exercise alone, or simultaneously a stair stepping exercise and a cross country skiing exercise. Linkage support frames (26, 28) each have a first linkage (44) and a second linkage (36) pivotally connected to each other for maintaining foot supports (30, 32) in a horizontal plane. A fluid cylinder (52) provides a mechanism for resisting the vertical ...

A magnetic refrigeration apparatus (10) is modular in design, so that housing modules (14) are alternately stacked with superconducting magnet pairs (24). Each module (14) has a wheel (16) that is rotated through the module (14), the wheel (16) having cutout regions (18) into which elements (20) of magnetic material are inserted. Each cutout region has two elements (20) separated by a wave spring, the wave spring biasing the elements (20) against the housing module (14) so that the elements (14)...

A protection device which is active during the manufacturing process of a semiconductor chip includes a protection transistor and an antenna. The protection transistor is connected between a metal line having devices to be protected electrically connected thereto and a ground supply, where the metal line is connected to devices to be protected. The antenna is formed of the same metal layer as the metal line and controls the operation of the protection transistor during the manufacturing process....

A heating device for the electromagnetic induction heating of a metal strip traveling in a specified direction. The device includes at least one electric coil arranged opposite at least one of the large surfaces of the strip so as to heat the latter by transverse magnetic flux induction, each coil being associated with at least one magnetic circuit. Each circuit is divided into a plurality of magnetically independent bars arranged parallel to the direction of travel of the strip. The bars may mo...

A service is described that discovers the physical locations of a computer's connections to logical networks and provides that information to applications. The service decides which method or methods for discovering physical location information are applicable to each network interface on the computer, applies those methods, and collects the results. The results are then converted into a common format. In addition to physical location, the information may include estimates of the quality and rel...
